Tim, Nick's younger brother graduated from high school this spring. He has spent the summer deciding what he would like to do with his life. First it was welding at Underforth's, a factory which produces wagon's for tractors. However, after a few months there, he decided it was not for him, and is now going a different direction with his life. The past few weeks, he has been scrambling to get everything set for Chiropractic school at Palmer, in Davenport, Iowa. It is a little bittersweet for me, I have grown quite fond of my little brother-in-law these past 8 years. To be perfectly honest, if there is ever a crisis with me or my kids in which I need immediate help, he is the person I would call. He has proven over and over, he will drop what he is doing to help me out. While he puts on a very good act, he is one of the sweetest 18 year old guys I know, you should see him with his godson, Cane. However, I am so excited for him to get out and experience college life! We will miss him more than he knows.
Jerry found this outfit at a garage sale, Cole wore it around for the next week! And as you see below, Cane of course had to try it out as well.
Many of you were part of, or witnessed, some of my softball days. This summer I decided it was time for a reunion of my softball traveling team from age 9-18! Some of these girls I see occassionally, and some I only have contact through facebook, so I thought we really need to get something together. I knew Missy would feel the same way, so we organized a little get together. About half of us were able to make it, and it was so wonderful to see everyone's new family and their parents. So here it is, the line-up: Front L to R: Lynette (outfielder), Angie (3rd base/outfielder) Back: Laura (pitcher/outfielder), Mandy (a little of everything) Missy (pitcher) and Shelley (1st base). Leah (3rd base) was there but she escaped before the pictures, which I am sure she was not upset by. Next summer I plan to do the same, but hopefully we can find a weekend that everyone can make it!
We had a milestone this summer. Cane is now in a big boy bed, and more importantly, I have no need to have a crib up! The five years of having a crib as a permanent fixture in my home is over, and if you can't tell, I am very excited! While we have not completely ruled out any more children, I think my excitement of taking down the crib speaks volumes as to our current feeling on the subject! I love having kids who can go to the park, the pool, and even school without carrying a baby around!
Charleigh and Owen have been out summer bff's! They go to daycare together and I am great friends with their mom also (she taught at my school). The kids, especially the little boys, have enjoyed exploring the "forest" as Cole calls it, in the gator at our housewhich is about 10 tall pine trees in our back yard.
This is the first summer we have bought a pool pass! We go several times a week and it is amazing how much better the kids have got at swimming! Every time we go, Cole comes home with a new skill or trick, yesterday it was a somersault in the water! Cane is a little water bug, he is has no problem jumping right in and letting his whole body go under water which is not how my other two were!
