Cane's 3rd Birthday

Cane was super excited when he woke up on his birthday. He had seen me working on his cake before he went to bed, but it wasn't done. So he was really excited when he woke up to see his cake!

Grandma and Grandpa McQuinn, Grandma and Grandpa McCumber, Tiffany, Tim, and Bethany were all able to come over for dinner, cake, and presents. Usually we do lunch for birthdays, so the kids don't have to wait all day for the party. But with Nick working nights, we needed to wait until the evening for him. Poor Cane, all day long I had to tell, "later.....later we will eat cake, later we will open presents." We actually let him open one gift before eating dinner because he just couldn't take the waiting anymore! Then he got really nervous and embarrassed right before everyone sang to him, I was actually afraid he was going to cry before they started. But as soon as people started singing, he was fine.

Grandma and Grandpa McQuinn actually gave him this gift right when they got there on Saturday afternoon. He wanted one of these so bad a few weeks earlier when he fell in love with Graham's, I was afraid he would be mad if he opened any other gift first after I had been telling him that he MIGHT get it for his birthday! He is much more attached to stuffed animals than the twins ever were, but he actually takes care of his animals like they are babies. He sings to them, rocks them, and wraps them up, such a loving boy!

It was a great day with a perfect ending for Cane. He got to sit in his new race car chair and watch the movie "Cars" with his idol......Lightning McQueen!

These pictures are funny because anyone who knows Cane knows that Grandpa's are his favorite! Grandma's are lucky if they get a quick hug before he runs to Grandpas on both sides. Cane is not all that great at posing for pics, but on his birthday he was all smiles!

And here is Claire's look alike. I can only hope she is as beautiful as her Aunt Tiffy!

Soccer!

Cole and Claire started soccer this past Sunday. It was beautiful outside, a little windy, but super warm. Perfect for soccer! I was worried when I signed up it would be cool when it started and it would make the first few practices not as fun if we were all bundled up, but we lucked out! The practice is actually 1 hr and 15 minutes of pure running! I was shocked that the kids were able to go like they did. The coaches were great and had lots of fun tag games, drills, and even scrimmages to keep the kids busy. The both LOVED it, but we sooo exhausted after it was over! And since it is Sunday afternoons, Cane didn't nap, we spent an hour and 15 mins on a blanket watching kids run and playing with tractors. I think I am going to like this Sunday night-kids in bed AND sleeping by 8:00- thing!

Once again, just like the bike riding posted below, I underestimated Claire. I was nervous that it would be too long for her and she would give up once she got tired. But she ran all over chasing that ball up until the last minute! She shocked me with her motivation and endurance, she LOVED the scrimmage!

Of course, Cole loves any sport with a ball. He was loving all the tag and competitive activities. No shocker there.
